Fresh or frozen?
Local produce or imported? Farmers Market or Supermarket? Is what you eat and how it is grown important to you?
Fresh produce is important, if you want to be able to see, and feel, the quality of the food you prepare for yourself and your family.
Local produce or imported? In your local grocery store, or supermarket it is easy to be able to see, and to feel the freshness and quality of the produce you purchase, with the intent of feeding your family, and yourself. You can tell for yourself whether you are willing to purchase it for your consumption. Not everything you use can be locally grown, and then it is still a matter of comparing apples with apples, so to speak, and seeing that you obtain the best.
Buy at the local farmers market or the supermarket? A local Farmers Market means local farmers. An opportunity to meet with, and get to know, the men and women who supply the food you put on your table. It is also an opportunity to purchase product short days after it has been harvested. You will be buying fresh from the farmer to you.
In the supermarket not everything in the produce line is locally grown. Sometimes you may also find that the local produce is not always the best product to buy. In the off season you could possibly find that most fresh produce is imported. There are times that the item you wish to purchase cannot be locally grown, it is then necessary to buy the best quality product for your needs. In the end the choice is yours.
Is what you eat and how it is grown important to you? For your health's sake it is very important, to have at the very least a basic understanding, of the process of getting seed in the ground, fertilized, harvested, and packaged and then delivered to your local store.
